The road map Turistel isn´t available anymore from 2008. The company Copec is selling in their gas-stations on the Panamericana their new road-map. The digital road-map will apear, if You click on the image above.

Kelp-harvesters
It´s Cochayuyo-time. To reach Temuco's market, the kelp-harvesters were several days on the road with their ox-carriages. (Not everyone likes kelp though)

Conguillio park
At the moment it's not possible to climb the Llaima-Volcano. The 22. march 2012 yellow allert was activated, because there was sismic activity. Conguillio park is still open for visits during daytime.

Santiago de Chile - Gute Nachricht für Chile-Urlauber: Das Feuer im Nationalpark Torres del Paine ist weitgehend unter Kontrolle. Vier von sechs Brandherden konnten eingedämmt werden. Das Gelände wird aus diesem Grund schon am Mittwoch teilweise wieder geöffnet. Dazu zählen laut chilenischer Forstbehörde die nördlichen Teile, in dem sich die meisten touristischen Sehenswürdigkeiten sowie mehrere Campingplätze befinden.

Santiago de Chile (AP) - A fire in the southern Chilean national park Torres del Paine has already destroyed 1,500 hectares of forest. About 400 people had to be brought to safety without the victims were listed as Chile's Interior Minister Rodrigo Hinzpeter announced. About 200 firefighters fighting the flames in the vicinity of the Black Lake. The mountainous landscape and the strong winds hamper efforts to extinguish the fire. In the 2400 acre nature park live condors and guanacos, and the extremely shy and endangered Andean deer.

After a long winter, now it´s possible to visit Conguillio National Park by car from Melipeuco to Curacautín and naturally as well from Curacautín to Melipeuco. It´s recomended to rent a car with high clearance. You may contemplate the snow capped volcano Llaima, with its almost 3145 meters in different perspectives. For sportive people Helmut organizes ascents with licensed mountain-guides.
